Cole's Campaign Notes
Since this quest began a little over a year ago, a lot of people have come to me with their very real
concerns for the future of the sheriff’s office.
One common thread that continues to arise is the overwhelming agreement that something has to
change. This is not change for the sake of change itself, but a desire and concern for the future of
those of us who live in Rogers County
This run for the office of sheriff is of great importance because the winner will bear the
responsibility of directing the office into the future. This demands a strong leader.
In preparation for that leadership, I have recently read two books that have been an encouragement
to me.
Winners Never Cheat reinforced my belief that honesty and integrity may be maintained no matter
how challenging the circumstances.
Lincoln On Leadership details my view of what proper leadership skills look like. If you want to
learn how I would apply myself to your sheriff’s office, or if you are entering into a leadership
position, I strongly recommend this book.
This race is not a joke or a game. It is not about who has the best-looking website or who passes
out the most cards or enters the most parades. These are part of any campaign, but what this is
really about is the need for change and the leadership necessary to guide that change.
