More Thoughts from Cole Butler
"Steppin' Up"

I visited the Owasso Chamber Of Commerce luncheon April 2nd. I was greeted by a
friend of mine who is a prominent business owner. As he came toward me and we
shook hands, he asked me how the campaign was going.

I told him it seemed to be going very well as I was meeting a lot of people and
receiving a warm reception.

He looked me in the eye and said, "Thanks for steppin' up".

The seriousness of his statement struck me.

It made me consider how the decision to run for sheriff has already changed my life.
My schedule has completely changed and will continue to be challenging as the
election nears. Sometimes the thought comes to me that this effort is too demanding
and I should reconsider my decision.

However, I know I can't do that. When we feel truly called to a task we cannot walk
away from it. I have met too many people who are ready for a change and are looking
to me to lead that change. I have taken the responsibility onto my shoulders and I
won't look back.

I want to thank those who have already placed their trust in me and are supporting me
as I "step up" to this new challenge. Thanks also to those who have taken the time to
ask me to sit down and speak with them for a while as I am introducing myself and
handing out my cards.

I am greatly encouraged by the business owners I have met who understand the need
to bring the leadership of sheriff's office to a more professional level.

I appreciate all those who are telling others about my goals for the office and
recommending me to them. The consistent and numerous first-time hits on my website
tell me that there are many people in our county who are interested in pulling together
and "stepping up" together.
