R-Responsibility to enforce traffic law Traffic law enforcement is an unpopular topic. I have been advised by well-meaning friends not to bring up this subject as it may cost votes. However, Rogers County citizens are dying on our roads and this responsibility far outweighs any risk to an election. We must partner with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to combat this problem and do what we can to reduce the frequency of traffic-related tragedies. Also, criminals don’t walk to the places where they commit crimes-they drive. Simple traffic law enforcement can prevent or interrupt these crimes. Remember, OHP Trooper Charles Hanger captured Timothy McVeigh after stopping him for not having a license plate.
Anonymous said... I have known Cole for over 18 years and I can honestly say that he will do Rogers County an excellent job. He is the most honest and "do the right thing" person I know. He will never embarrass the County nor the office of Sheriff. The residents of Rogers County will know they truly have a servant when they elect Cole Butler. August 1, 2007 10:42 AM

I am not comfortable with the thought of the already overburdened Oklahoma Highway Patrol taking responsibility for traffic enforcement on our roads. I would work to free our troopers to work their interstate and highways were I am sure they would rather be. I will employ a motorcycle officer that will work primarily to help secure the safety of our schoolchildren by working the school zones and following school buses as they load and unload our children. Then, while school is in session, he will enforce traffic law to protect the rest of us. I will add another officer as soon as the budget allows to work as a team and keep each other safe. I will equip each patrol car with a radar so they can join in the enforcement with the desired result to get all drivers to comply with the law, keeping all of us safer.
